Transportation · Toronto / North York
Getting to medical appointments, the pharmacy or a family visit is harder when driving is no longer an option. Senior transportation services range from accessible and wheelchair transport to non-emergency medical transfers, escorted rides and community ride programs. Traffic, parking and long trips across the city are a real barrier for many Toronto seniors, so a reliable ride can be the difference between keeping an appointment and missing it.
Check each listing for the type of vehicle, whether a driver can help door to door, and how far in advance to book. All providers below serve Toronto and North York.

Public transit agencies run specialized services for riders who cannot use regular buses. Private and non-profit providers can fill the gaps, for example for longer trips or when a helper needs to come along.
Toronto residents who cannot use regular TTC service may be eligible for TTC Wheel-Trans, the city's accessible door-to-door transit service.
Ask whether vehicles are wheelchair accessible, whether the driver helps door to door, whether a family member can ride along, how far ahead to book and how waiting time at appointments is charged.
Yes. The local transit agency runs a specialized service for riders who cannot use conventional buses (see the local notes on this page), and private providers offer accessible vehicles for other trips.
Many providers specialise in non-emergency medical transportation, including hospital discharges, dialysis and specialist visits. Mention any mobility equipment when you book.
